The International Show Jumping Competition takes place right in the heart of town alongside the Verbier Sports Centre. The village undergoes a transformation as stables are constructed, huge horseboxes arrive up the windy mountain road, and horses are washed down and groomed for this top class equestrian event.

20 nations are represented and the event normally welcomes more than 30,000 spectators. Food stalls and bars offer a range of lunches and aperitif options and the informal seating around the arena provides for a spectacular view of the worlds leading show jumpers competing in front of the breathtaking mountain backdrop. The competition lasts 8 days and over 300 horses and 150 riders compete for over CHF200,000 in prizes.

We recommend this event for its close and intimate atmosphere and for the sheer thrill of watching the riders and their horses jump such high and challenging fences. Chalet Spa can make reservations for lunch at the event’s gastronomic restaurant.

Cycling is one of Switzerlands most popular sports. Cycling in Verbier and the Alps can be fun for the whole family as well as enthusiasts. Verbier provides the largest cycling area in Switzerland with 206 km of endure trails and 65km of single track including descents of more than 1000 metres. For those who prefer a more leisurely pace, there is plenty of gentle mountain biking to be enjoyed on the many trails around the mountain. Some trails barely tackle a gradient and are fun to ride along, with tunnels making for a good distraction.

During the Summer months mountain bikes can be hung on the ski lifts which provide a quick solution to getting to the top of the mountain. Post Buses also have bike racks to help you get back to Verbier if you ride to the valley below.
